18th World Conference on Earthquake Engineering
Time: 16:00-1800 on Tuesday, 2nd July 2024

Location: Amber 1 Room, MiCo Convention Center, Milan, Italy

A third meeting was held at the 18th World Conference on Earthquake Engineering in Milan, Italy. At this meeting, an overview into what EPOS is and its Data Portal’s current capabilities were presented to approximately 40 attendees. Subsequently, the Built Environment Data (BED) initiative was presented alongside the three services currently under development. The complete agenda can be found here and the slides for each presentation are available below.

Overview of EPOS  – Lilli Freda, EPOS

Introduction to Data Portal – Rossana Paciello

Presentation of Built Environment Data (BED) candidate TCS – Gerard J. O’Reilly

Brief intro to current BED services:

Eucentre Foundation
23 March 2023, Pavia, Italy

Participants:
Delegates from Eucentre Foundation, University of Pavia, IUSS, GEM Foundation, University of Aveiro, University of Porto, LNEC, Joint Research Centre (JRC), University of Bristol, National Technical University of Athens (NTUA), University of Patras, Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, University College London (UCL), and EPOS ERIC management/coordination in conference call.

Main outcomes:

  1. Definition of possible links between the new TCS and existing EPOS TCSs, as well as the candidate Tsunami TCS.
  2. Better definition of the potential services offered by the TCS, their leading institutions and the estimated date of release of such services.
  3. Definition of the governance structure of the TCS, including a Consortium Board, an Advisory Board, an Executive Committee and three additional Report&Advice Committees.
  4. Discussion on future European calls for proposals.

Participants:
Delegates from Eucentre Foundation, University of Pavia, IUSS, GEM Foundation, University of Porto, LNEC, Joint Research Centre (JRC), University of Bristol, National Technical University of Athens (NTUA), University of Patras, Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, University of Bucharest, and EPOS ERIC.

Main outcomes:

  1. All participants, representative of leading engineering research groups in Europe, agreed on the importance and added value of the new potential TCS, expressing interest in being involved in its creation and development.
  2. A short document was generated that summarises the main goals of the new TCS, and may also serve as a base for new expression of interest requests.
  3. In addition, a preliminary list was produced that reports the potential services offered by the TCS, their leading institutions and the estimated date of release of such services.
